Dear readers, I am back once again with another serious discussion! For those who like ‘Imancipation’ articles, I am truly sorry for not publishing new articles soon. But there are some important reasons behind that. First, it is a bit hard to choose a perfect subject to discuss; and second is how much I can express through my article.
Anyway, in this article, we’ll discuss a serious issue that’s been looming over us but we’re
definitely ignoring it: climate change. Before starting I would like to inform
you that it is not an article filled with statistics and references which you
can find available on the internet, rather this article gives you a new perspective
discussing the problems.
There will be several
shocking issues coming forth, but I hope you can understand them. Please remember
that I don’t want to say through this article that you should of course accept
my view, rather I want you to understand what I am trying to say. It’d help my
purpose of writing and informing the world about the issues they should be concerned
about.
Okay, let’s start…
Part 1: How much change?
Climate change is a
very rapid and dangerous change. But you might say why we didn’t feel the
change? We felt, that you need to take time to understand how much change
happened till now. The fact that all the stars in the universe will die one day
shouldn’t concern us much as we don’t have anything to do about it at this
moment except continue our research, and it’d happen after a long, long,
very long time. But climate change isn’t something you can ignore.
If you try to see the
statistics, which are dangling over our eyes in every news portal daily, we
can see how much the seasons changed from old times to now. In my region, the
winter almost started in August or more in at past, but now it barely
starts in December. And summer stays almost till December. I mean there were nice divisions and visuals when a season starts, but now all things are somehow
messed up. (I only mentioned the main seasons which include summer, rain, and
winter; and the middle one barely exists now!)
If you see the news,
you’ll also find the flood in Germany and various European countries, and
sandstorms in China. And there is also news of the extreme flood in China that
is causing life and property damages. You can also know about the unbearable
heat in other places. These aren’t something that we normally see. Even
meteorologists/forecasters admitted that they need data for a long time to
predict a flood in Germany. To give a decision for a country’s and
region’s climate you need data for at least 30 years, and we didn’t ever see
such a thing happening in these years.
There are other changes
like some places going underwater where the Maldives is termed in a threatening
situation, and the melting of polar ice caps. The dangerous and outrageous heat of
the sun is just too much for us to accept. People could work under the sun in the past,
but now they’re affected by diseases. And we all know what UV ray does when it
affects our skin. Trees absorb a large amount of heat from the sun when it comes
to Earth, but now the numbers of plants are very low.
I mean, I can give you
many examples of how much the environment and climate changed in all these
years. These examples are many if you wish to make a list. I think you are
quite assured that changes have happened. If not, then please check the news,
and if you want data-based articles check out the internet, there are a lot.
Part 2: Are we doing anything?
No, we’re absolutely
not doing anything. Yes, there are several initiatives and some projects too,
but those don’t actually count as effective. Some guys even neglect and hate
the anti-climate change projects, and I think you all know a famous example.
Various companies
around the world are announcing plans and changes to stop carbon emissions or any pollution that affects climate change. But those aren’t actually
enough. I know that every baby step will lead to something bigger, but in this
case, taking baby steps is just time-consuming and won’t have any real effect on climate change.
I know a lot of people
write and talk about the change, but what do they do about it? And now you may say
that, “Hey, what about you? You’re also writing and posting!” I know I am doing
it, but this is actually my limitation to doing something. For example, if you ask
a writer to open a big project that plants big solar panels and lessens the pressure
from using fossil fuels, then the writer will absolutely think you’re crazy.
It is not because he
isn’t enthusiastic about it, but he may think at that moment that if he had a
big amount of capital he could do a lot of effective projects like this. I
don’t have money, but I think I have the skills to write. There are a lot of
people who actually want to do something but can’t, so they try to do it differently. Some people can do something, but they
just post colorful photos, make some big donations (though they’re tiny in
comparison to the problem), tweet or re-tweets, talk a little bit in shows, et cetera. [And don’t think I am racist as I only said ‘he’ not also ‘she’;
it’d be quite annoying to add ‘he/she’ again and again.]
What I am trying to say
is we need to do something that would be sustainable and do a long-term change;
not the useless changes we do (that don’t work at all, and nobody cares) in the
summits or with "The Paris Agreement".
Part 3: Why don’t billionaires (or rich people) care?
Billionaires or rich
people are always crazy for many. There are maybe some good intentions in some
of them whether it is regarding climate change or doing any good change, but
they don’t often do that. I can mention Elon Musk for the Tesla initiative,
Solar City initiative, and other projects. Many rich people are into these kinds of things, but among the rich people all around the world,
I don’t their number would be 8% or a maximum of 10% (though is just a bigger number
than real). So, what about the others?
To say, all the rich
people know about climate change more or less. But the thing is most of
them don’t care. There are several reasons behind that.
If you’ve seen the
extensive research to visit or build a colony on Mars, you would think that all
the rich people have invested in these projects. Maybe they did. For example, I
may remind you of the movie 2012. Do
you remember how investments are taken from rich people secretly throughout time? Yes, maybe things are the same now.
Unlike in 2012, the whole planet won’t be
destroyed in reality. Rather, there is a large amount of time to wait for the
apocalypse. And then comes the thought, Why
not gain more wealth in the meantime and be the wealthiest in the Mars colony?
It is good to invest in scientific expeditions, but it is an absolutely foolish
job to think that the Mars expedition is possible with the impossible difficulties
on the way. Maybe rich people think differently.
In some words, I can’t
say why not rich people care about this dangerous change? Maybe they have a
secret plan, or maybe not. If they have, then that plan is for them not for
all. It is truly a mystery why not they care. They’re so engrossed in gaining
riches that they just forget all things around them because they’re staying in
lavish palaces or luxury suites. Why’d they care?
Part 4: Why don't the governments
care?
It is truly something
that makes me wonder and think. There are several reasons that the governments
don’t care about this change. If you remember the Extinction Rebellion and the
movement that occurred in England, you’ll see how Police were engaged in
anti-protest mode. There are other governments of top countries not concerned about
all these.
Pollution is so bad
in the rich countries that even plastics or polymers reached the Mariana
Trench, the deepest place on Earth. The aquatic lives are in danger after we’ve
destroyed abodes for millions of animals. And what are governments doing against it?
There is a Paris Agreement that is only slightly gagging to stop the environmentalists or nature lovers from saying that the world leaders aren’t doing anything. There
are several UN divisions and goals to stop climate change. But what things
they’re doing? Nature has made better progress in the COVID-19
pandemic and lockdown for a small time than humans have done with all the big
summits and organizations.
Humans have greeted it
and gone on again to exploit the gift of nature. How ungrateful we are! We don’t
care for what nature provides us; we rather like to get what we want, as much
as we want. Some guys even take awesome photos with a background of green nature
or waves of the ocean, but they only think of nature as a good venue for
photography.
I admit that we’ve made
projects in big science competitions or summits, but did anyone ever think of
using them in reality? No, they didn’t, they just think of those projects as some
good thing for competition and giving awards. If we try to use the robots or
bio-engineering techniques our young generations have provided over the years,
we can hope to get astounding results.
Many developed
countries are taking good steps. Like Japan, Maldives, and countries that have
a big shore in their area. But why not the more developed countries? I think
these dweebs think that their country is not in the lower zone, but rather higher
zone; and nothing will stop them. At least they could’ve thought of the other
countries at the lower zone to be exploited as they’re in a better position, and make
it a reason to save the world.
Governments are now
thinking about how to make big weapons and destroy their opponents. But while we’re
making large rockets and missiles, the continents are about to drown. These
governments don’t even know that they’re destroying their own home while firing
a big nuclear or atomic on their enemy. Because we all live on Earth, idiots!
Those who’ve seen Pacific Rim would know from the initial
part of the movie why the world governments came together to defeat the
Kaijus. Even in 2012, all the
governments were together to make big ships. China didn’t even hesitate to
house such projects that have US investments! So, why aren't governments united about this?
Governments are mostly
funded by rich people because if you want to run a whole party you need money
for the activities regarding the regulation of the party or campaigning for the vote. And I think you understand how almost all the rich people think of
climate change. Another thing about the government is that they are always trying
to get as much as possible in power, and because of that they only act
mostly for immediate intimidating matters, not matters that "will occur after a
long time" such as climate change.
I urge the government:
please act now or it’ll be too late to act soon enough. People have given you
power because they think of you as someone who could not only lead the country but also a visionary person who could see the looming problems that will affect
the future of the nation. Don’t leave these problems because your future
successors can act or your opposition will have to deal next. This is the urge
of many, many people: please act!
Part 5: Conclusion
I think it is best now
to conclude this article. If you’ve understood the dangers climate change will
cause, please go ahead and alert the others. I won’t say to neither share this
article nor post it on any social media platforms (as you may think that I
crave publicity), but rather spread the word in any way possible. Let the
governments hear your urge.
I could’ve said more,
but it’d be only more and more coming in the points. The thing I tried to do is
raise awareness concerning climate change. That'd be a pleasure and success
to me and my purpose of writing if you understand what I tried to say, and at
least some of you have taken steps relating the purpose.
Part 6: Special Addition
This may seem awkward
after I put a conclusion just in the last part. But this part is added later
after the IPCC report which happened just recently. I thought that it’d be very
important for that reason. The whole article has no other change than the
original one except in the Author’s note’.
Anyway, this report has
highlighted a lot about why climate change is an immediate concern for the whole
world. And if you see the headlines of the major news sites, you’ll notice the
highlight of saying that the IPCC report is ‘code red for humanity’. I agree
with it and I also agree with another comment added that a catastrophe can be
avoided if the world acts fast.
But don’t think, “Oh
yeah! We still got a lot of time, 'cause this ‘acts fast’ was said multiple
times.” These aren’t the old similar warnings. To inform you, this report is the
first major review of the science of climate change since 2013. See the difference
in time.
If you look at climate change, it doesn’t only threaten lives, but also the economy. Recent reports related to coffee in Brazil will give you a slight glimpse of a small portion of the economy climate change is affecting but the harms are a very big danger to the financial situation of Brazil after its poor containing of COVID-19.
Note: Thanks
for reading, and mostly understanding (if you have). For any mistakes, I am
truly sorry. Giving accurate data and discussion has been a tough thing.
Assumptions by me have been mentioned as my ‘thoughts’ or ‘I think’. Maybe
there is truth to this assumption, or maybe not. But the main purpose of this
article is to aware you of climate change and encourage you to take steps. The
IPCC report also indicated that fast action is necessary. More articles are
available in the ‘Suggested links’.
For those who want more
‘Imancipation’ articles, I’d say you need to wait a bit. I’ve some articles
ready but they’re quite sensitive. I am seeing what I can do to share the words
with you. For any comments, you’re welcome to do that here or on any of ‘Iman
Awakens’s social platforms. And for the lovers of books, entertainment, and
creative content, I’ve many articles relating those genres in the ‘Iman Notes’
blog.
